The Lesser Man

The Biggest Loser is one of our favorite shows at home. For me I enjoy watching people working through their issues and becoming better individuals, not just physically but more importantly emotionally. Mike, one of the older participants this season shared the following poem about his progress in becoming a healthier man. As he reads through the poem the line that got me most was about his struggle for health being an ongoing battle with his former self.

..And though he may never completely leave on his own accord, I can at least guarantee that his stay while here will never be a comfortable one.

Personally I think he nailed it on the head. No matter what you are dealing with whether it be alcohol, drugs, your past, and any unhealthy habit that you may have. You are never “cured”, you’re never completely untethered from those habits. So if you’re truthful with yourself in knowing that yes, it is a daily grind that will constantly need your focus. You’re less likely to slip back into your old life.

Continue to push yourselves and make the lesser man as uncomfortable as possible.
