The Right Direction

One of my favorite aspects of Jiu-Jitsu is teaching or helping someone along. Gaining personal insight and accomplishing a bunch of your own goals feels great. It’s evidence that all your hard work has finally paid off. What’s more enjoyable is training with someone who has the kind of ambitions needed to grow in Jiu-Jitsu. It’s rewarding to supply them with answers to riddles they’re dealing with while continually pushing them to form new questions.

Justin and I have been training for a few months, inching towards some of his goals. Some of the biggest improvements I’ve seen in him is his approach to training. He’s more focused about the path he’s on without deviating away from it which is something that our instructor has pushed on us. It takes a lot of patience and focus to stay the course but the rewards are flourishing.

Here are a few recorded rounds from this morning. Forgive me for the camera angle, When I set it up I wasn’t expecting us to start standing.
